Thailand Deaths Being Questioned
KRABI, THAILAND – FREERYANTODAY.COM
What happened to Jill St. Onge on Koh Phi Phi Island in Thailand?
In what was supposed to be a romantic getaway to Thailand with her fiancée Ryan Kells, has become a tragedy. The couple became ill at the Laleena guesthouse, room 4, and Jill died less than 12 hours later.
A Norwegian pair, Julie Michelle Bergheim and her friend “Karina,” who were staying in room 5 next door, also became ill. Julie died around the same time a short time later.
Authorities are investigating.
The guesthouse was opened in 2004, just before the Tsunami swept the Island killing more than 800.
What a tragedy! I was on Phi Phi Island just 6 months before the Tsunami, and now this!
This is not going to help tourism to the Island.

Smear Campaign Against Ruby Dhalla?
FREERYANTODAY.COM - BREAKING CANADIAN NEWS
Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla, 35, is in the fight for her political career.
The Liberal MP from the Brampton-Springdale riding in Ontario is under investigation after reports surfaced from two former Filipino nannies that suggest she made them work too hard, and had them perform menial tasks that were not a part of her job description.
She has adamantly denied the claims and has gone further and requested a complete investigation herself to have the ethics commissioner launch a fact-finding probe. There are rumours that a lawsuit could be pending against the Toronto Star, which broke the story.
In an opinion piece published today, Don Martin of the National Post is questioning the allegations and calling them, as of now, a “smear campaign” and nothing more until more evidence can be provided.
And, FreeRyanToday.com agrees.
Why should we believe two obviously disgruntled employees, who took more than a year to come forward?
Due process is required, at the very least, before we go ruining someone’s career just for a political game.
PS – What is up with the unfair and bias coverage by the Toronto Star?? Let Ruby react and provide some proof before you publish your opinion!
New York Real Estate Cheaper Than Mumbai?
"New York is now cheaper than South Mumbai, London, Hong Kong, Moscow and Tokyo.”
A sign there is a massive shift in wealth? Or that prices were severely over-priced in New York?
Probably a bit of both.
According to Jaswant Lalwani of the Corcoran Group, New York’s largest real estate firm in the residential sector, New York is proving to be quite a deal for Indians priced out of the market in South Mumbai.
Real estate in New York is now 20-25% lower than a year ago.
"There is a significant uptick in interest from Indians. The entry barrier for a large one-bedroom Manhattan condo is Rs3 crore. What can you buy in South Mumbai for Rs3 crore? In cities like Houston, Phoenix, Vegas, Los Angeles, and Miami, you can get large apartments for $150,000 (Rs75 lakh)." said Lalwani.
With that said….perhaps mass immigration will be the answer to selling and ensuring the housing markets in the US and Canada recover? Is this a large reason why we continue to hear that the “new economy” must improve the flow of immigration?
Perhaps so!
It is all money, money, money…and governments of North America are desperate to get their hands on any cash waving in front of them. Not to mention all the home owners that need to offload their properties.
It is going to be a new world for America I fear.
Is Thailand going to be the “bargain” for North Americans?
Dom DeLuise Has Died at 75
Life can be funny and ironic. And also very sad on a day like today.
In 2006, I got involved with a writer and producer to discuss the possibility of making a feature film, so I flew out to Hollywood in 2007 to check out the situation. While there, I was introduced to some other producers who had a TV idea that seemed very interesting and different. Immediately, I was drawn to the idea, and I decided to get involved.
It was a TV Pilot and idea for a show called the “Un-Invited Guests with Bell Devlin Starring Dom DeLuise.” I would later become an Executive Producer.
It was in fact the very beginning of this blog, and my journey to write and document my trips to Hollywood. This is where I got the idea to start FreeRyanToday.com and it has grown since then.
While the pilot – like so many others in Hollywood — failed to get picked up, it was all a journey that I will never forget.
In the pilot, Dom was to play the comedic barbecue man who would serve up burgers while the host dealt with celebrities dropping by the backyard setting. Such a perfect role for Dom, and a great "land" for new producers looking for their first shot.
On my last day in Manhattan Beach, California, I had a flight to catch back to Calgary after the filming of the pilot in Los Angeles. The producers on the show were trying very hard to get me to stay an extra day, because that afternoon as I left them, and they left me, they were on their way to the home of Dom DeLuise to discuss the green screen shooting of his role in the pilot. (At the last minute he was unable to be in the studio as he was not feeling well, so they agreed to a green screen.)
I never ended up staying and meeting Dom. As my flight took off, I had a feeling I made the wrong choice.
Today, as I write this, I now know I did.
RIP Dom!
And PS – you believed in our idea…and one day we will get it off the ground!
